Using Facebook to promote your business

By Jay S NaPier
Social networking has become a big buzz in the business world today and no other website has what Facebook has to offer. You can easily promote your business by meeting people you relate to on a personal level. People buy from people they like, so after you get to know folks on Facebook it gets easier to make sales. Ok, you're convinced - let me tell you more. The first step is to start out by going out and connecting with your friends. Go through your address book and do a search for them on Facebook. When you've run out of people in your address book, it's now a great opportunity to browse through other people who have a similar interest on Facebook. One of the first things you want to do in order to make the connection is has something in common, which makes it easier for them to get to know you better. After a while, you'll have a nice list of friends on your Facebook account so you can slowly begin to promote your business. You want to first do so in a subtle manner. You don't want to become annoying to any of your friends, right? and of course no one wants to be friends with a spammer. Don't be pushy, or you'll find that your friends will begin to no longer be your friends. You also want to actually become peoples friends on Facebook as well. Get to know them, find out their children's names, get familiar with what they do as a hobby. In other words, get to know them on a personal level if you can. People buy from people they trust, and people will begin to trust you as they get to know you on Facebook. Pictures on Facebook is one of the best ways to get to know people. You can post your pictures, and people will begin to view your pictures to get to know you better. For example, if you are a home remodeler and you want to share updates on your latest project, posting the pictures on Facebook is a great way to begin to prequalify people who might buy your services. When people see the high quality work that you do, you'll be the first person that comes to mind when they want to remodel. Groups, are another great way to make friends. Groups on Facebook are people that have similar hobbies, interests, and are like-minded. There are many different topics you can choose from: geography, religion, politics, sports, movies, music, and even your high school class. Another great way to connect with people is through your status. Your status is a mini blog that ask you "what are you doing?". you can get as personal or as vague as you want with this. You may be watching your favorite TV show, reading a great book that you want to share or perhaps you're enjoying a day on the beach. Either way, it allows your friends to keep in touch with you and stay connected with what you are doing. Links are another great way to connect with others. You can share links to your favorite news stories, recent blog posts, your video channel, or any website that you'd like to share with others you are friends with. These links can be motivational, informative, or simply make your friends laugh. Overall, Facebook is a great way to promote your business. It can really help you get the word out to everyone you know and even many that you don't. If you really want to take your business to the next level, Facebook is definitely the next place you need to visit.
