When you import from China, lower your risks

By David Johnstone
Many people are considering where to find merchandise to sell on Ebay. When you are dealing with the giant auction site, you need keen buys to compete with the many others struggling for a place in the market. Here are some things that you should watch out for when you import from China. Stay away from electronic items from China. The adverts and notices that claim they are name brand goods you see for much more on the high street, are actually fakes. The danger with buying with these fakes is that you are left with a useless piece of equipment if something should go wrong with it. There is no one to return the merchandise to and the maker you thought made the product will not want to know. Designer clothing and accessories that you find from China are also almost always fake. You should never try to pass off these goods as originals or you will be facing a great many problems. A good rule of thumb to use is that if the prices are too good to be true, then they probably are not true. Instead look for a site or company selling quality unbranded merchandise for a good price. As long as they are not trying to sell you a brand, you can be more assured that the merchandise that they have is a reasonable. Look for suppliers Google. It is not a foolproof method, but you can be pretty sure that the sites with the highest rank are legitimate companies. Also, keep an eye on the domain name that they are using. If they are trying to steer traffic to their site with the use of a brand name, you might want to stay away. Make sure that there is contact information for you on their site. Of course, this doesn't necessarily mean that they are a legitimate company. It is better to see contact information than none at all. Be careful about the types of payments that are accepted. Suggest an alternative payment method if you don't like what they suggest. They should be able to accept most of the bigger name payment methods. When you import from China use your common sense and don't be carried away with the concept of importing. If you are being offered branded merchandise at a quarter of the price back home, you are being misled.
