You Can Make An Income From Blogging

By Alan Edmunds
There are two major types of business models that entrepreneurs use to make money blogging. The first and most common way to turn a blog into a profit making machine is to sell advertising to different companies and brands who want to reach that blog's readers. The second way to make money through blogging is to create positive associations between the brand and the readership. Both types can make much money, especially if the blogger knows a lot about marketing. If you are trying to sell advertising as a method of earning money, you can recruit sponsors who will put the ads on your site. You can also have someone else do the work for you by linking with Googles Adsense. This is a program that requires little effort on your part. The advantages of Adsense is that it allows you to have advertising without having to do much work. Most people, however, dont make as much money with Adsense as they do when they select their own advertisers. Selling advertising directly to companies who want to put banner ads or sponsored links on your blog can take quite a bit of time, but it is often fairly lucrative. If you have a lot of contacts in industries that are related to the topic of your blog, you may want to try to go this route. Those who are experienced at pitching out proposals may be able to make a great deal of money through the use of rental space on your weblog. The trick is that you must have a reasonable readership in order to have advertisers attracted to you and what you have to say. This means you have to do a lot of work in order to have the readership it takes to attract businesses. Blogging should continue to be more and more lucrative so that there will be many more companies that will consider getting into the action and advertising via blogs. Some companies are starting up their own blogs to act as somewhat of a friendly face for their company. The company will often hire an established blogger who will write the blogs for them that appeal to the companys consumers. There have been several established bloggers who have become employed by such companies and who have earned a lot of money blogging for the corporate world. Choosing a free blogging site can feel overwhelming because there are so many options. There are several large free blog-hosting sites that dominate the blogosphere, but there are also smaller sites. You can chose a large site like Blogger or a smaller site. It all depends on what you believe your priorities might be. Many people choose a bigger site because of their reliability. This is perhaps the best reason you will choose a bigger blogging site. When choosing to allow an established firm host your blog, you know it wont often crash and the firm wont disappear in the night. A company that has set up a big site tends to have more researchers and fewer technical glitches. However, many bloggers decide that this isn't enough of a selling point. The bloggers who choose to go with smaller, newer blog hosting sites do so for a variety of reasons, but perhaps the number one advantage is a fairly abstract one. The blogger then chooses David over Goliath as a matter of ethics and on the principle of the thing.
