Every day more people are turning to online home based businesses to help them get through the current economic hard times. Lurking in the shadows are those who hope to capitalize on those who do not know their way around.
Over the years I have worked with and for numerous companies both over the internet and in person and have develop a knack a spotting the scams. There are a lot of similar characteristics and things to look out for.
First, go with your gut. If you are reviewing a company and can't find much information online, its probably because its brand new and wont be around tomorrow. If the website looks like it was made in 10 minutes, it probably was.
Stay clear of outlandish claims. This is a huge red flag and is almost always a precursor to a scam. You just can't legitimately make 10,000 a day starting out in internet marketing, you just can't.
Second, narrow your list of legitimate companies and put together a set of questions to ask all of them. If possible see if you can speak to the owner of the company or see how high you can go. IF the president of the company is the one who recruited you then odds are its a 1 man shop so again, beware.
IF the internet has brough us anything, it has brough us information at the click of a finger, so use it. Go out and try to find some third party research companies who have reviewed the companies you are looking at. Just beware who you get your information from and make sure they are impartial, i.e. not getting paid!
It is my hope that you are not deterred from now starting your own online business, for they can make you a lot of money.
I am an internet business owner myself and love every minute of it! So get out there and find the company that best fits you.
